I began my journey with the First-Gen Scholars Association (FGSA) as one of its first members and then became a Lead Peer Mentor its the first batch of peer mentors. Then, as an intern, I designed monthly newsletters, various logos, and t-shirts as well as ran the Instagram page, helped plan events, and generally advertised FGSA. I was tasked with remaining true to the college's brand guidelines, mainly the colors, to create cohesion between FGSA and the college.
As a first-generation college graduate, working with this new organization was impactful. I worked with members and the general public to educate everyone on the struggles and privileges of being first-generation.
